Creating a new experience for Walmart customers

Challenge
How did we introduce a new technology to our customers and created an experience where we kept the customer and not the technology at the center?
Conducted in-depth user research to understand customer needs and behaviors before introducing new technology.
Defined a customer-centered product vision prioritizing user experience over the technology.
Established feedback loops and success metrics to continuously refine the UX based on how customers interacted with the new technology.
OPPORTUNITY
Help customers eliminate the question of “will it fit” or “does it match my personal style”. Provide an experience that makes users feel as if the item is in their space.
Explorations helping users to quickly begin interacting with an item, so that we can continue detecting a plane, ultimately placing a true-to-size item.
APPROACH
Built for scale: Created a cohesive design system and set of principles that would span across multiple AR products.
Created interaction models that prioritized intuitive gestures to help users place, adjust, and compare items naturally in their environment.
Collaborated with cross-functional to align on a strategy that met both customer expectations and business goals.
Partnered with engineering to optimize for smooth performance without sacrificing visual quality.
Defined KPIs, using analytics and ongoing user feedback to improve the experience post-launch.
Impact
Increase in user engagement, with higher interaction rates leading to add to cart.
GMV lift, driving higher conversion rates and overall revenue growth.
Reduction in return rates, enhancing customer satisfaction and their purchase confidence.
